Washington-based rap duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis received a lot of attention when they release their single Same Love off their upcoming album The Heist. The reason for the attention is the lyrical content of the song. The song talks about the use of phrases like “so gay” and “faggot” in popular culture, and knocks referencing the Bible when trying to counter same-sex marriage.

The track was also used as a rallying cry in support for Referendum 74, a public vote to be held next month in Washington, that, if passed, would legalize same-sex marriage.
