Singapore's Equivalent of Gay Pride Attracts Record Crowds

Over 15,000 Singaporeans turned Hong Lim Park into a sea of pink lights at the first-ever night Pink Dot, Singapore's equivalent of Gay Pride, since the event's debut in 2009. For 4 years now, thousands of straight and LGBT Singaporeans have gathered to show their support for the freedom to love, regardless of one’s sexual orientation.

The inaugural Pink Dot four years ago was attended by only 2500 people. This number grew to 4,000 in 2010, and finally burgeoned to 10,000 people in 2011.

Congratulations to everyone involved. It's heartwarming to see such progress in Singapore.
