California Senate Moves To Ban Gay-To-Straight Therapy For Kids
"The entire medical community is opposed to these phony therapies," Sen. Ted W. Lieu, D-Torrance, said after passage of Senate Bill 1172, which he introduced.
SB 1172 would prohibit children younger than 18 from undergoing sexual orientation change efforts.
"Being lesbian or gay or bisexual is not a disease or mental disorder for the same reason that being a heterosexual is not a disease or a mental disorder," Lieu said in a news release. "The medical community is unanimous in stating that homosexuality is not a medical condition."
The bill is expected to go to the Assembly for an initial policy review next month.
Dr. Robert Spitzer Retracts 'Ex-Gay' Study and Apologizes to the LGBT Community
Truth Wins Out released a historic video interview today of Dr. Robert Spitzer who renounced his infamous 2001 “ex-gay” study and apologized to the LGBT community. Spitzer also demanded that anti-gay organizations stop citing his retracted work to advance their political goals.
“This is an historic moment and it was crucial that we recorded it for posterity,” said Truth Wins Out’s Wayne Besen. “It was also critical that we had Dr. Spitzer directly confront anti-gay organizations by name to make it difficult for them to distort his study without undermining their credibility.”
In 1973, Dr. Robert Spitzer led the charge to successfully have homosexuality removed from the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), which is its list of mental disorders. This was a major victory and remains one the gay movement’s signature achievements.
Given his stature and key role in declassifying gay people as sick, it was quite a surprise when Dr. Spitzer published a non-peer reviewed 2001 study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior that claimed some “highly motivated” gay people could reach their “heterosexual potential” through prayer and therapy. When he announced his work at the 2001 APA meeting in New Orleans, it created a media sensation. An Associated Press story called his findings “explosive.”

One Million Moms to freak out
J.C. Penney has put out another ad featuring a same-sex couple, this time two dads and their two kids in honor of Father's Day. This is so going to upset the mom's who make up the "million mom's" organization. I can even imagine them wailing like banshees right now. Time for a boycott ladies. As for me, I feel like shopping today. I have this urge to splurge. Way to go, JC Penney!!!
Zach Wahls, His Two Moms And The Future Of Same-Sex Marriage
What's the most persistent myth about being raised by gay parents? "That you are a child abuse victim," says Zach Wahls, author of the new book, My Two Moms: Lessons of Love, Strength and What Makes a Family.
Wahls became an internet sensation after a video of him defending his mothers' same-sex marriage was uploaded to YouTube. His 2011 testimony before the Iowa House Judiciary Committee has racked up over 18 million views and led to appearances on The Daily Show, Letterman, Ellen, and many other places.
Now comes My Two Moms, in which the 20-year-old University of Iowa engineering student explains what it's like to grow up as a child as the child of same-sex parents and uses the lessons he learned as an Eagle Scout to talk about why marriage equality should be the law of the land.

Isaac wow the judges with his cover of the Jackson 5’s I Want You Back. Though his performance was brillant, his adorable outgoing attitude is what really caught the attention of the three judges and the crowd. This kid will go far in the competition.....
I Don't Feel Like Dancin'
Check out this dance video from Diogo De Lima. I had a huge smile on my face watching it. It's kinda silly really. But Justin Shaw, the dancer had this cute adorable expression throughout the video that it is hard not to get infected by it. Haha I wish I could wake up with a dance step every morning instead of my normal growl.
Wolf Blitzer To Donald Trump: 'You're Beginning To Sound A Little Ridiculous'
In the must-watch clip of the day, Donald Trump and Wolf Blitzer spars over the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate. You know what I would really, really like to see. I'd like to see Donald Trump's birth certificate to verify he was born on Earth. I always thought the Kardashians are the dumbest people in the United States but damn Donald you made a great effort to prove me wrong.
Huffington Post - CNN host Wolf Blitzer called out Donald Trump on Tuesday after the "Celebrity Apprentice" host and birther extraordinaire continued to question the authenticity of President Obama's birth certificate.
Blitzer said that he didn't understand why Trump "doubles down on this birther issue" after the state of Hawaii confirmed the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate.
"Why are you going through all of this, Donald?" Blitzer asked. "A lot of people do not think it's an authentic certificate," Trump said. "But how can you say that?" Blitzer pressed.
Trump continued to argue that "many people" do not believe in the authenticity of Obama's certificate, and told Blitzer that if he reported the story "accurately," he might get better ratings, which Trump said he thought were "pretty small."

Child Sings ‘Ain’t No Homos Gonna Make it to Heaven’ in Church
I know the Bible’s right, somebody’s wrong
I know the Bible’s right, somebody’s wrong
Aint no homos going to make it to heaven
And a room full of adults gave the kid a standing ovation. Clapping and cheering. This is one of those astonishing things that you watch and need a while to make sense of what you just saw.
Besides the hatred, this is really tantamount to child abuse. This poor child is obviously singing something someone taught him to sing. Something this hateful that could very well harm him later in his life. Who is to say he will not grow up GAY?
GMHC Urges Young Gay Men to Kiss & Tell During Pride Month
New York, NY — Starting on Tuesday, May 29, Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) will launch a citywide HIV prevention campaign, "Kiss & Tell" in phone kiosks throughout the city to coincide with LGBT Pride Month (June). The campaign was developed in partnership with adolescents, between the ages of 13 and 19. "Kiss & Tell" encourages young African American and Latino gay and bisexual men to have open and loving discussions (tell) with partners (the people they kiss) about their sexual history and HIV status. The youth who helped to create the campaign are part of GMHC's youth leadership-development program, CLUB1319 (club1319.org). CLUB1319 provides HIV prevention education, social networking, skills training to these young men, as well as opportunities to participate in developing social marketing campaigns. "Kiss & Tell" builds upon GMHC's widely respected campaign, "I Love My Boo" which also targeted young African American and Latino gay men.

Anne Hathaway Receives Human Rights Award
Just stumble across this old video of Anne Hathaway giving a very moving speech onstage as she accepted her award from the Human Rights Campaign in 2008. If you have not watch it before, check it out. Her award was given to her for being openly supportive of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender community. This is a topic very close to Anne, who grew up with a gay brother. Her speech was very powerful, and she spoke of not being "brave" for openly supportive of gay rights, but being just a decent human being.

Anderson Cooper Surprises America's Tallest Man
Being tall doesn't always have its perks as Igor Vovkivinskiy, who's just over 7.5ft tall, told Anderson Cooper this week.
In his own words, it can be rather hard and painful, especially if you don't have the right shoes or clothing.
Sitting down with the talk show host, the 29-year-old native Ukrainian who has been raising money to buy custom-made shoes, at a cost of $16,000, received a surprising push beyond his original goal.
'In the past five years I've had about fifteen surgeries,' he told Anderson while showing off the same pair of shoes, sized 26-10E, he's worn for the past three years.
'What is the difficulty? Why so many surgeries?' Anderson asked.
'As soon as I have a surgery and I begin to heal and start walking I have to wear the same shoes that caused the wounds in the first place. So the wounds keep opening up or forming new ones and it's a vicious circle,' he said.
Earlier this year, he sent letters asking for help from President Obama, Oprah, and Dr. Phil, to name a few, to help him purchase a new pair.
Teenager Beaten, Kicked Unconscious In Anti-Gay Attack
A gay teenager was called "disgusting" before he was beaten unconscious in central Auckland.
The attack on Saturday night at Westhaven Marina has shocked gay rights workers.
It came a week after the start of a campaign against such discrimination.
Zakk d'Larte, 18, was dropped off by friends at a boat party about 7pm and was walking back to his apartment in the city centre when three men started to approach him wolf-whistling.
"I think they thought I was a girl because they were calling me 'sweetie' and all that sort of stuff."
As they drew closer, the three men realised Mr d'Larte was male and he said there was a rapid change in their behaviour and attitude.
"It went straight to aggression. They were calling me disgusting - just really homophobic kind of comments."

Madonna in Gaga swipe?
Madonna is in Israel rehearsing for her MDNA tour and was captured on video singing her classic track 'Express Yourself' and then launching into Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' mid-song.
She then brought 'Express Yourself' back in before switching to 'She's Not Me' from Hard Candy. This got a lot of tougues wagging that she is having a swipe at Lady Gaga since 'Born This Way' has often been compared to 'Express Yourself'. Check out this footage of Madonna’s MDNA tour rehearsal .

Muslim Council of Britain: Civil partnerships were a ploy to attack marriage
The Muslim Council of Britain has launched a website, Muslims Defending Marriage, which describes the civil partnerships system as a ‘ploy’ designed to ‘attack traditional marriage’ by giving gay couples the same legal rights as straight couples.
The site says “many people now recognise” that the purpose of the civil partnerships system was in fact to “attack traditional marriage” by allowing people to argue that marriage is “just civil partnership by another name”.
With just over a fortnight until the public consultation on marriage equality between gay and straight couples in England and Wales closes, the Council said the Muslims Defending Marriage website is not intended to be homophobic, but to promote an Islamic view of marriage.

St. Paul Pastor Who Backs Gay Marriage Turns To Internet To Keep Church Open
Web show host John Ong lives in Kansas City, Mo., but his audio program recently took a detour into St. Paul's East Side.
"Hello, everyone, all my Ong-line Podcast listeners. Typically you tune into Ong-line Podcast to listen to me talk about myself," he told fans on a recent Sunday afternoon. "But I'm not going to do that this week, because there's a bigger issue and a bigger story to tell you."
Ong never has stepped foot in the Grace Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul, but the openly gay graphic designer felt moved to devote his weekly podcast to a 30-minute phone interview with the Rev. Oliver White. The 69-year-old East Side pastor remains in danger of losing his church after taking a stand in favor of gay rights.
Ong isn't the only one inspired to help. Joseph Ward directs "Believe Out Loud," an online forum based in New York and Washington, D.C., where faith leaders can express their support for gay rights and marriage equality. He has never before used it as a fundraising tool for a church or faith group, but his website has raised $7,100 for Grace Community as of Wednesday afternoon.

Otis Moss, III Challenges Fellow Black Clergy On Marriage Equality For Gays And Lesbians
The Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, III is the Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. In his May 13th address to his church, Pastor Moss read a letter he had sent to a fellow clergyman who took issue with the President’s recent support of Gay marriage. I was completely amazed to hear Pastor Moss give this powerful speech about marriage equality. He really laid out some sizzling logic in defence of love over the doctrine. It is really inspiring. Check out his speech below.
Thousands Protest In Response To Pastor Worley
Newton, North Carolina - Over 1,000 people gathered in this small town about an hour outside Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday to protest what they called messages of hate by Maiden, N.C. Pastor Charles Worley, whose comments at Providence Road Baptist Church during a sermon on May 13 made headlines last week.
Worley said he had “figured a way out – a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers.”
Comments from a 1978 sermon by Worley also raised eyebrows. Posted by the church, the old sermon included comments from Worley that “Forty years ago they would’ve hung [homosexuals], bless God, from a white oak tree!”“Build a great big, large fence — 50 or a 100 miles long — and put all the lesbians in there,” Worley told his congregants.“Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals — and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out. Feed ‘em. And you know in a few years, they’ll die out. You know why? They can’t reproduce.”

Where Being Gay Is A Death Sentence
| Horst Backe (from left), Hamed and Mark Rabnett. The Winnipeggers sponsored Hamed after communicating with him on Skype. |
The president of Iran once infamously said there are no homosexuals in his country.
The truth is, anyone outed as gay in the Islamic theocracy might end up dead as a result.
Or as a refugee in Winnipeg, if they're lucky -- like 27-year-old Hamed, who arrived in March.
He was sponsored by a Group of Five connected to the Rainbow Resource Centre in Winnipeg.
"I can't imagine what would've happened to me," said the young man, who spent 17 months in Turkey waiting to come to Canada after he was outed.
"Being gay in Iran is not acceptable," said Hamed in carefully chosen English. "If someone wants to hurt me or kill me, there is nobody to protect me."
Even here in Canada, he's worried about what could happen to him if homophobic fundamentalists discover his last name and track him down.
He was in a five-year relationship with a man whose family found out and threatened to tell Hamed's ultra-religious relatives.
"My boyfriend's family wanted to tell somebody about my gay life," said Hamed.

Pope's Butler Arrested Over Vatican Letters Allegedly Exposing Corruption
Have I got this right? The person who is trying to expose a crime is the one that got arrested? What the??? The Vatican to me is like a mixture of a gorilla size corporation, the mob, and a corrupt government, and not an institute of love and forgiveness and teaching of the word of God. Once again, we see a whistle blower getting punished, and the true culprits present themselves as the injured party. Does that mean no one high up in the Vatican will ever pay for their crimes? I cannot believe that in this day and age these sort of behaviour can still go unpunished. If this was a government, we would be baying for blood already. Check out the below article from The Guardian.

| Paolo Gabriele sits beside the driver of the Popemobile, with Pope Benedict XVI behind. |
A Vatican spokesman declined to confirm the butler's arrest, which was widely reported by Italian media on Friday, stating only it had arrested a person discovered in illegal possession of "confidential documents".
Paolo Gabriele, 46, who has worked as Benedict's butler since 2006, was reportedly taken into custody after investigators found a mass of documents in the Vatican apartment he shares with his wife and three children.
The arrest comes a month after the Vatican gave an investigative team led by Cardinal Julian Herranz, a member of Opus dei, a full "pontifical mandate" to join Vatican police in rooting out the perpetrators of what has been dubbed Vatileaks.
Gabriele is a member of the 85-year-old pontiff's closest circle of helpers, assisting him in his papal apartment at the Vatican alongside four female members of the Italian religious movement Comunione e Liberazione who cook and clean.
The Rome-born butler is now in custody in the Vatican's cells.
